 appiness with Professor Tony Burrow\nThis spring Cornell debuted a new civ
 ic leadership course to help students fin "purpose" in their Cornell exper
 iences and their lives after Cornell.  Called “Pathways to Purpose”\,
  this class was born out of the belief that Cornell can do a better job pr
 eparing our students to participate in a meaningful way in private and pub
 lic entities\, schools\, communities\, companies and more.\n \nMany class
 mates responded positively to this idea so we decided to provide the oppor
 tunity to “go deeper” into the topic of purpose.  We reached out to o
 ne of the designers of the course\, Tony Burrow\, who wears a number of ha
 ts at Cornell: the Ferris Family Associate Professor of Life Course Studie
 s in the Department of Psychology\; director of the Bronfenbrenner Center 
 for Translational Research\; and senior associate dean for outreach and ex
 tension in HumEc.  \n \nTony is an expert on purpose\; his research  
 is centered on why having a sense of self-direction – or purpose in life
  – serves as a psychological resource for those who cultivate it: “I c
 onduct studies testing the extent to which purpose (a) contributes to posi
 tive adjustment and (b) serves as a source of protection in the face of st
 ress and challenge.”  While much of Tony’s work is focused on Gen Z\,
  there is plenty for us Baby Boomers to learn.\nSave the date--Tuesday\, J
