Olin Lecture 2026 & RED Talk Reminder–6/23 at 8 pm

One of the marquee events of Cornell’s recent Reunion was the annual Olin Lecture. This year the topic, drawing on conversations happening currently on campus, was “The Future of the American University.”  But instead of Cornell faculty, panelists were Cornell alumni who are leaders in higher ed:

  • Steven Knapp, MA ’77, PhD ’81, president of George Washington University from 2007 to 2017
  • Eduardo Peñalver ’94, incoming president of Georgetown University and former Dean of Cornell Law School
  • Wendy Raymond ’82, president of Haverford College and an accomplished molecular biologist and award-winning teacher. She previously served as VP for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Davidson College

Listen to these impressive alums sharing their experiences, reflecting on their time at Cornell, and offering their views on the future of higher education.

And, don’t forget our upcoming RED Talk this coming Tuesday, June 23rd at 8pm EDT featuring Tony Burrow. Tony is a psychology professor at Cornell whose research focuses on why having a sense of self-direction – or purpose in life – serves as a psychological resource for those who cultivate it. Tony is sure to have some insights for us.
