Cornell Sings! with Corey Ryan Earle ’07 & a Walk Through Sherwood Forest with Sherwoods Special Guests Dave Hunter ’68, Ron Johnson ’68, and Frank Holden ’62
Cornellians have joined together in song from earliest days. The Cornell Alma Mater is widely regarded as one of the best college songs in the world.
From the late 19th/early 20th century’s informal gatherings around a piano, and the once-traditional commencement “Senior Class Sing” on the Goldwin Smith steps, to the 2022 present: Cornell songs and singing have resounded on campus.
Join Corey Ryan Earle ’07 for a journey through musical history as we celebrate the songs, singers, ensembles and singing groups that have serenaded generations of alumni.
We’ll spotlight the late ’50s explosion of a cappella groups and highlight The Sherwoods Story (1958-1974): their break-off from the Glee Club, their Sherwoods “sound,” and their remarkable return to campus in 1985, now a Reunion tradition. Special guest appearances by Dave Hunter ’68, Ron Johnson ’68, and Frank Holden ’62 of The Sherwoods.
